一、作者簡介
本文作者巴金，原名李堯棠，祖籍浙江嘉興，生于四川成都一個官宦家庭。自幼在家延師讀書。1923年赴上海，不久到南京東南大學附中讀書，1925年夏畢業后，經常發表論文和譯文，1927年赴法國，翌年在巴黎完成第一部中篇小說《滅亡》，1929年在《小說月報》發表后引起強烈反響。1928年冬回國，居上海，數年之間，著作頗多。主要作品有愛情三部曲"《霧》、《雨》、《電》。1931年在《時報》上連載著名的長篇小說"激流三部曲"之一《家》，是作者的代表作，也是我國現代文學史上最卓越的作品之一。1938年和1940年分別出版了長篇小說《春》和《秋》，完成了"激流三部曲"。 由他倡議，1985年建立了中國現代文學館。他的著作被譯為多種文字。1982年至1985年相繼獲得意大利但丁國際榮譽獎、法國榮譽勛章和香港中文大學榮譽文學博士、美國文學藝術研究院名譽院士稱號。任中國作家協會主席、全國文聯副主席。

二、解說
1. 前兩天有一位日本作家問我你怎么同時喜歡各種流派的作家和作品呢？A few days ago, a Japanese author asked me how I was able to ap前一單元ciate authors and books of so many different schools.
原文是個問句，譯成英語后是個陳述句。疑問部分只是個賓語從句，主句的語序無需倒裝，句末也不需要問號。
原文“喜歡”被譯作“ap前一單元ciate”，取“欣賞”之意，而不是單純的“喜歡like”。
原文“流派”的英語為“school”，意為：group of writers, thinkers, etc. sharing the same principles or methods, or of artists having a similar style。

2. 我說，我不是文學家，不屬于任何派別，所以我不受限制。I replied, "I am not a 'man of letters', nor do I belong to any particular school.
原文“文學家”譯作“a man of letters”。“letters”意為：literature as a profession or an academic study, 文學；文學研究。“a man/woman of letters 男/女文學家”是習語。
原文“我不是文學家，不屬于任何派別”中的第二個否定用nor do I belong to any particular school可避免重復相同的否定結構。

3. 我說，唯其不是文學家，我就不受文學規律的限制，我與不怕別人把我趕出文學界。I replied, "As long as I'm not a man of letters, I'm not subject to any of the rules of literature. Nor do I have to be afraid of being thrown out of any literary circles."
原文“唯其”中的“唯”是“只有”的意思， “其”是“我”的意思，故譯作“as long as I... ”。
原文“不受……的限制”譯為“not subject to ...”，意為“obliged to obey...; under the authority of...須服從…；受…的支配”。

4. 我所有的作品都是寫來控訴、揭露、攻擊這些敵人的。All my books were written with the ex前一單元ss purpose of denouncing, exposing and striking out at these enemies of mine.
“with the ex前一單元ss purpose of doing sth.”中的“ex前一單元ss”意為“clearly and definitely stated; explicit 清楚的；明確的”。

5. 我覺得有一根鞭子在抽打我的心，又覺得仿佛有什么鬼魂借我的筆為自己伸冤一樣。I felt as if my mind was being whipped, as if a ghost had commandeered my pen and was writing to redress the injustices it has suffered.
“commandeer”意為“take possession or control of (sth) forcibly, 強行征用”。
“redress”意為“put right (a wrong), 糾正（過錯）”。

6. 我說我寫作如同在生活，又說作品的最高境界是寫作同生活的一致，是作家同人的一致，主要的意思是不說謊。When I say that I write like I live, and that the highest ideal a work of literature can attain is to be at one with life, and that an author should be able to identify with his readers, I basically mean that books and their authors should never tell lies.
譯文“like I live”中的“like”是連詞，意思是“in the same manner as 像…那樣”。
譯文“identify with”意為“regard oneself as sharing the characteristics or fortunes of sb; take sb as a model 與某人認同；以某人為模式”。
