1. 中華人民共和國為了擴大國際經濟合作和技術交流，允許外國公司、企業和其它經濟組織或個人（以下簡稱外國合營者），按照平等互利的原則，經中國政府批準，在中華人民共和國境內，同中國的公司、企業或其它經濟組織（以下簡稱中國合營者）共同舉辦合營企業。With a view to expanding international economic cooperation and technological exchange, the People's Republic of China permits foreign companies, enterprises, other economic organizations or inspaniduals (hereinafter referred to as "foreign joint venturers") to establish equity joint ventures together with Chinese companies, enterprises or other economic organizations (hereinafter referred to as Chinese joint venturers") within the territory of the People's Republic of China on the principle of equality and mutual benefit and subject to approval by the Chinese Government.
    “with a view to doing sth”是個正式的書面語，意為：with the intention or hope of doing sth有做某事的打算或希望。
    例：He is decorating the house with a view to selling it. 他正在裝修這所房子，想把它賣了。
    本句是一個長句，注意在翻譯時英漢語序的差異。“為了擴大國際經濟合作和技術交流”是個目的狀語，先用一個介詞短語譯出，再譯主語“中華人民共和國”。謂語部分的結構是“允許某人在某種情況下做某事”，但根據英語的句子結構特點，應將其調整為“允許某人做某事在某種下”。

    “依法according to the law”作為插入語，而且很簡短，放在動詞“protects”之后無妨。“the investment of foreign joint venturers, the profits due them and their other lawful rights and interests in an equity joint venture”為三個并列的賓語，均為名詞加一個限定語，結構非常平穩。
    “按照經中國政府批準的協議、合同、章程”譯作一個形容詞短語“pursuant to the agreement, contract and articles of association approved by the Chinese Government”，放在句末。“pursuant to...”的意思是“in accordance with..."。此類短語最常見的位置就是句首或句末。

3. 在特殊情況下，根據社會公共利益的需要，對合營企業可以依照法律程序實行征收，并給予相應的補償。Under special circumstances, when public interest requires, equity joint ventures may be requisitioned by following legal procedures and appropriate compensation shall be made.
    “根據社會公共利益的需要”這個短語，因為是在特殊情況下，應理解為一旦發生這樣的需求，所以被譯作一個時間狀語從句。

4. 合營企業的形式為有限責任公司。An equity joint venture shall take the form of a limited liability company.
    翻譯此句時應考慮到英漢主謂搭配問題，不能全盤照搬。漢語的主語是“形式”，英語的主語是“An equity joint venture”，所以選用“take the form of...”這個謂語形式。

5. 合營企業各方可以現金、實物、工業產權等進行投資。The parties to an equity joint venture may make their investment in cash, in kind or in industrial property rights, etc.
    “in kind”是個習語，意為：(of payment) in goods or natural produce, not in money （指償付）以實物償付。
    例：When he had no money, the farmer sometimes used to pay me in kind, eg with a sack of potatoes. 那個農民沒有現款時，有時候給我些東西抵帳（如給一袋土豆）。

6. 如果有意以落后的技術和設備進行欺騙，造成損失的，應賠償損失。In case of losses caused by a foreign joint venturer in its practicing deception through the intentional provision of outdated technology and equipment, it shall compensate for the losses.
    “in case of sth”意為：if sth happens若發生某事，假如。
    此句譯文的結構相當緊湊，層次交待得也很清楚。“In case of losses”是“如果造成損失”，然后用一個限定成分說明怎樣造成的損失。
    另外，雖然原句是無主句，但英文還是需要主語的，故加了“it”，指代“a foreign joint venturer”。

7. 上述各項投資應在合營企業的合同和章程中加以規定，其價格（場地除外）由合營各方評議商定。The above-mentioned investments shall be specified in the contract and articles of association of the equity joint ventrue and their value (excluding that of the site) shall be asssessed by all parties to the venture.
    “specify”意為：state clearly and definitely確切說明；明確規定。
    “assess”意為：decide or fix the value of (sth); evaluate確定，評定（某事物）的價值；估價。
    “場地除外”是指場地的價格除外，故譯作“that of the site”，“that”指代“value”。

8. 出口產品可由合營企業直接或與其有關的委托機構向國外市場出售，也可通過中國的外貿機構出售。It may sell its export products on foreign markets directly or through associated agencies or China's foreign trade agencies.
     原文含有被動意思，但上一句用“an equity joint venture”作主語，故本句譯文繼續以此作主語，只是用代詞“it”來表示。這樣譯的好處就是上下文比較順暢。
    本句敘述了三種出售出口產品的方式，前兩種用“或”連接，第三種的部分重復，而譯文用了兩個“or”把它們連接起來，顯得更加緊湊。

9. 鼓勵外國合營者將可匯出的外匯存入中國銀行。A foreign joint venturer shall be encouraged to deposit in the Bank of China foreign exchange which it is en單元內容瀏覽d to remit abroad.
    用被動語態處理無主句是常見的方法。
    “in the Bank of China”插在“foreign exchange”前面是為了讓“which”引導的修飾語能緊跟在所修飾的“foreign exchange”后面。
    “en單元內容瀏覽 sb to do sth”意為：give sb a right to have or do sth給某人獲得做某事的權利，使某人有資格做某事。
